My First Post!
Well here it goes, this is obviously my first time I have ever blogged, so I'm a little nervous but excited! My sister Taylor has been begging me to start blogging so I thought now is the perfect time too. I start of with telling you a little background on our "little Saltzmann Family"
Dalton, my husband is from Arizona and moved to Illinois in march of 2005 where I was born and raised. We had two classes together (history and English) in 8th grade. But we didn't actually meet until the summer before freshman year. We met at a baseball game at the high school. Then on September 11,2005 he asked me to be his girlfriend at an Oswego high school football game! Even though we were only 14 and 15 we knew we were meant to be together forever! After our two year anniversary on December 21, 2007 we found out we were going to be teen parents. On August 11, 2008 we were blessed with a beautiful baby boy named, Carter! Carter was such a good baby he was always so relaxed and he was so spoiled by everyone!! Then the upcoming year On September 26, 2009 Dalton baptized me as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon)!! It was an amazing experience and I love the church and I didn't know what I would do if it wasn't in my life!! We got engaged on January 1,2010. Then on December 20, 2010 I married the love of my life! So we've been together for almost 8 years!!  That's a little bit of us and our history!
Now onto more recent events....we were still living In Illinois but we moved to Virginia in September! Carter started up again In preschool here and absolutely loves it!! Dalton's working with his dad and I'm at home until fall when I'm going back to school!
One main reason I wanted to start blogging is because of Carter. I wanted family and friends to be able to know what's going on in our lives since we moved and now I wanted to know more about what's going on with Carter.
At the age from around 2 to three we started noticing Carter wasn't really progressing with his speech like he should be and also Carter had some little quirks like rubbing his hands together, very sensitive to noise, not liking anything by his ears, and "quoting" things  he hears especially from movies or shows. So In Illinois we got him tested to get him into preschool but they wanted to do further testing because they noticed the same things we were concerned with. So they diagnosed him with a developmental delay and he went to a special education class and he love it! It also definitely helped him with his speech. So then when we moved to Virginia there is this program called Child Find that we went through. That gets children special help. So he is still in a special education program for preschool for his developmental delay. But now since he is getting older about to go to kindergarten (I can't believe we are going to have a kindergartner!!) they can't use that technical diagnosis anymore because its more severe than that. Right now we are in the process of further testing. We saw a social worker on Monday and we had to tell her every detail from pregnancy to now. From what we told her  and the evaluation they do on Carter they will come to a conclusion. The social worker right now said they are thinking its Autism. But we won't find out for sure until May 9th . Still though they can only make what's called an educational diagnosis so after we get all the paper work from them and talk to Carter's pediatrician and get a medical diagnosis. No matter what though Carter is our son and a diagnosis will not change that and we love him with all our hearts and we just want to help him to get the best possible help. I hope In the future my experiences can help any parents with or without an autistic child.
I would love to hear feedback or have any questions let me know!! You can ask anything!
